my gender? me? my gender?

ALOK VAID-MENON is a non-binary artist + activist.
Their writings resonate with me, even their poetry,
an artform with which I don't usually connect.
GENDER IS LIMITING
OUR POTENTIAL
NB is an amazing podcast hosted by Caitlin Benedict + Amrou Al-Kadhi. In the podcast, Caitlin tries to answer questions about their own gender and takes Amrou (their friend + mentor = frientor) along with them.
> In the first episodene guest on the show felt that the term 'non-binary' was forcing another restriction on yourself instead of actually freeing yourself from gender, which I found an interesting thought.
VASILIKI HALASTARAS is currently my style icon.
This video was the first time I ever saw someone identify/express themself as neither male nor female. It struck a chord with me; I've been pondering on my own gender ever since. Although I think/hope I understand myself a bit better than five years ago, I still feel like I lack the language (in the broad sense; text, visual, audible) to adequately express what I feel to others. There has been a rupture which I cannot put into words or images. I want to mend the disconnect between myself and whatever gender is to me.
